The Law Office of Ernest J. Bauer, Jr., provides clients with the innovative and aggressive representation they need when charged with felony DWI offenses. I look at police reports, video footage, Breathalyzer results and all other relevant evidence to build a powerful case on your behalf. The consequences for a conviction of felony DWI charges are severe, so you need to have my proven defense strategies and more than a decade of legal experience working for you as soon as possible.

Insightful Defense Strategies For All Felony DWI Charges

As a Covington felony DWI attorney, I serve the criminal defense needs of clients throughout the North Shore area. I can defend you against all types of felony DWI charges, including:
  • Third-offense DWI: Conviction for a third DWI within a 10-year period can result in up to five years in prison, a $2,000 fine, and the state seizing your motor vehicle. The previous DWI charges (first and second) did not have to occur in Louisiana. If you were convicted for two DWIs in other states, and then are convicted of a DWI in Louisiana, the state will treat this as your third DWI offense.
  • Fourth-offense DWI: Being convicted of a fourth DWI in a 10-year period can result in 10 to 30 years in prison, a $5,000 fine, and seizure of your motor vehicle. As with third DWIs, your previous DWI convictions do not have to have been in Louisiana.
  • First-degree vehicular negligent injuring: This charge stems from causing severe bodily injury while operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs. This charge carries up to six months of prison time and a fine of $1,000.
  • Vehicular homicide: The prosecutor pursues homicide charges when someone causes the death of another person while operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated or under the influence of a controlled substance. This charge is especially severe, and it can lead to up to 30 years in prison.
I am able to help those labeled as habitual DWI offenders seek an alternative to lengthy prison sentences. This can include minimal jail time, followed immediately by extensive substance abuse treatment programs. Although this is not an option in every case, I fight to seek the best resolution no matter what charges you face.
